Professional statement

Steve Green is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Manhattan who works with adults dealing with depression, anxiety, life transitions, career issues, and those who are trying to find themselves. He specializes in working with professionals who feel stuck in ways that prevent them from thriving at their jobs and in their relationships.

Many of Steve’s clients have been high achievers their whole lives. On the outside, things may look fine, but inside, they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Work and daily responsibilities feel heavier than they used to. They’re not sure how they ended up here, only that they can’t keep pushing the way they once did. Often, they feel distant from the people they care about, and even from themselves.

In therapy, Steve offers a collaborative, supportive space to slow things down and make sense of what’s been happening. He works with clients to look at patterns in relationships, emotions, and expectations that may no longer be serving them.

At the same time, he focuses on helping clients relate to uncomfortable feelings differently so those feelings don’t run their lives. Rather than trying to “fix” or eliminate difficult emotions, Steve helps clients build practical skills to manage them. His goal is to help people reconnect with what matters most to them and take meaningful steps forward, even when things feel hard.

If you are feeling lost or disconnected and are seeking clarity and sustainable change, Steve invites you to connect. Prospective clients are invited to reach out to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if it’s a good fit.

Message to clients

Entering therapy is a courageous choice. It asks you to sit with parts of yourself that feel complicated or hard to face. My goal is to make that process feel as safe and supported as possible. Together, we'll find a way to give voice to the parts of yourself that feel messy and create a space where it feels safe to share your struggles.

The people I work with often come in worried that therapy will strip away what makes them who they are. What they discover instead is that the more they understand themselves, the more fully they get to be themselves. Growth in therapy isn't about changing who you are. It's about coming home to it.

At the heart of therapy is a good relationship. The connection between therapist and patient is where real healing takes root, which is why finding the right fit matters. I'm happy to answer any questions you have and make sure this feels like the right match for you.
