Dr. Steven Sohnle is a licensed Psychologist located in Somervile, NJ. For over twenty years he has worked with adults ranging from their teens to their nineties. He helps clients navigate the issues common in the academic and professional settings including pressure to perform and impostor syndrome. He helps professionals at all career and life stages to make important decisions, build meaningful relationships and adapt to transitions such as student-to-professional, staff member-to-manager, manager-to-executive, professional-to-retiree, marriage, divorce and relationship and career disappointments.
Highly experienced in multiple evidence-based approaches, Dr. Sohnle helps his clients with Process-Based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Clients learn to identify and understand unhelpful thought patterns that can lead to frustration, anger, disappointment, or anxiety resulting in unhelpful behaviors such as procrastination, excessive substance use and withdrawing from relationships. Dr. Sohnle often incorporates elements of mindfulness into therapy to foster a moment-to-moment awareness which can be empowering and even life-changing.
