Professional statement

Susye Greenwood works with adults whose lives often appear successful and well-managed from the outside, but feel more complex on the inside. Her clients include entrepreneurs, attorneys, investors, creatives, and leaders operating in demanding environments. Many are in periods of transition—personally or professionally—and find themselves questioning what once felt clear. Beneath competence and achievement, there may be anxiety, restlessness, relationship strain, or a quiet sense of disconnection. They are not looking to step away from their ambitions, but to live in a way that feels more grounded, intentional, and aligned with their values. Her practice offers a confidential space where both ambition and vulnerability can be explored without judgment.

Her approach is integrative and insight-oriented, grounded in psychodynamic and relational therapy. She helps clients understand the patterns that shape how they relate, work, and make meaning—while supporting changes that are deliberate and sustainable. Sessions are collaborative and engaged, balancing depth with forward movement. Rather than quick fixes, she emphasizes emotional clarity and practical shifts that hold up under real-world pressure.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, Susye spent fifteen years as a photojournalist and studied public policy. This background informs her sensitivity to context, culture, and personal narrative, as well as how external expectations and internal standards shape a life.

She maintains a private practice in New York State and offers in-person and virtual sessions, along with in-home meetings and walk-and-talk therapy. Half- and full-day intensives are available for individuals or seeking focused, in-depth work.

Message to clients

I believe good therapy should feel human—warm, thoughtful, and, at times, even a little humorous.

Many of the people I work with are at a point where something in their lives is changing—or no longer feels the way it once did. A relationship, a career, a sense of identity. From the outside, things may still look successful. But internally, there’s often a feeling of something being off, even if it’s hard to explain.

Therapy offers a space to slow down and really look at that. Not just to manage symptoms, but to understand what’s underneath—what’s shifting, what’s asking for attention, and what may need to change.

My approach is collaborative and tailored to you. I’m trained in psychodynamic and relational therapy, and I integrate mindfulness and somatic awareness when it’s helpful. I’m interested in patterns, but also in what’s happening in your life right now—how you make decisions, how you relate to others, and how you experience yourself.

Some people prefer to sit across from me in an office. Others find it easier to talk while walking side by side. Either way, the work is about creating enough space and clarity for something new to emerge—whether that’s a shift in how you see yourself, how you move through relationships, or how you define what a meaningful life looks like for you.

If this resonates, we can start with a conversation and see if it feels like a good fit.
