Professional statement

Suzanne Morrison, LCSW, believes that even in our most painful moments there is room for meaning, growth and sometimes even laughter. Suzanne specializes in walking alongside people navigating life’s transitions such as grief, loss, identity shifts, and creating space for both the heaviness and the unexpected lightness that can emerge.

In sessions, Suzanne takes things one step at a time. She uses a strengths-based, individualized approach rooted in compassion, perspective-shifting, and practical tools to help clients feel more grounded. Whether through a new coping strategy, a moment of insight, or simply the relief of being understood, her goal is for each session to leave you feeling a little lighter.

Suzanne's background includes years in hospice care, supporting patients and families through anticipatory grief and bereavement. She has worked extensively with adolescents and adults facing complex life challenges. These experiences shaped Suzanne's understanding that there is no “right” way to grieve or navigate change. Love, regret, confusion and hope can all coexist and she offers space for every part of that experience.

Message to clients

I start from the belief that even in our most painful moments, there can be room for meaning, growth and yes, even laughter. One of my favorite lines comes from Steel Magnolias, when Dolly Parton’s character says, “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.” That mix of sorrow and joy captures what therapy can offer. My office is a space where both are welcome, where you can show up with whatever you are carrying and know it will be met with compassion, not judgment.

One of the most powerful parts of therapy is perspective-shifting and meaning-making. My goal is to help you see your story in a new light. We may start with what is happening in your daily life, then follow the threads to the deeper patterns shaping your life. I focus on you as a whole person, not a diagnosis, and you will be an active part of the process as I guide with the right questions at the right time. Sometimes that means learning a new coping strategy, other times an unexpected insight, or simply the relief of being understood.

We will make sense of the world together so you can feel more grounded and move toward your highest potential. Along the way, I will use metaphors, stories, and maybe a silly-but-true joke that sticks with you between sessions. Therapy is less about “fixing” and more about walking together through the woods and I would be more honored to walk with you!
