Professional statement

Dr. Tanya Singh is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety, OCD, and complex trauma, with a style that balances directness and honesty with genuine compassion. Many of the people she works with are thoughtful, capable, and conscientious, yet find themselves stuck in cycles of overthinking, intrusive thoughts, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm. Although they may appear successful on the outside, many internally feel exhausted, disconnected, overwhelmed, or unable to break recurring patterns.

Many of her clients have tried to address their symptoms before, only to find their struggles are more deeply rooted. Dr. Singh’s work integrates evidence-based treatments with a trauma-informed, depth-oriented perspective. Her approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, and metacognitive approaches, with an emphasis on emotional processing, building internal safety, and lasting change rather than symptom management alone.

In addition to traditional psychotherapy, Dr. Singh offers ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) for individuals with treatment-resistant anxiety, depression, or entrenched patterns who have not found sufficient relief through other approaches. She also works with clients navigating spiritual identity, existential questions, and the integration of intense or disorienting experiences, including spiritual awakenings and near-death experiences, approached with both psychological grounding and genuine openness.

Dr. Singh holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and trained at institutions including Columbia University, Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital, and Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II, Complex Trauma) and holds a certificate in Somatic Embodiment and Regulation Strategies. She offers virtual therapy for adults in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and all PSYPACT states.

Message to clients

Being human is not simple. It can feel overwhelming, confusing, and at times deeply uncomfortable. Most of us find ways to cope with that discomfort, and those ways often make sense at the time. But over time, they can turn into patterns that leave you feeling stuck, disconnected, or caught in cycles you can’t seem to break.

Many of the people I work with feel like something is wrong with them. They struggle with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, self-doubt, or a harsh inner critic, and often feel fundamentally different or “too much.” Together, we work to understand these patterns in a way that makes sense of your experience and opens the possibility for meaningful change. As that understanding deepens, your relationship with yourself begins to shift.

My approach is both practical and process-oriented, and I tend to be active and collaborative in session rather than a silent presence. I am direct and honest as well as compassionate, which means I am not here simply to validate, but to help you see yourself clearly without judgment or shame. We may use concrete tools to help you feel more grounded, and much of the work happens by slowing down and paying close attention to what is happening in real time.

I also work with people exploring questions of meaning, identity, or spiritual experience alongside more traditional clinical concerns. The goal is not to eliminate discomfort entirely, but to help you move through life with more clarity, steadiness, and self-trust.

Specialties

Anxiety - Anxiety can feel overwhelming and all-consuming, but it is also workable. I help clients understand their anxiety, build tools for self-regulation, and shift their relationship to fear, control, and uncertainty.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) - OCD often stems from deep fears and a need for certainty or control. I support clients in learning how to navigate intrusive thoughts with more freedom and compassion, using evidence-based approaches like IFS and exposure-based work.

Life transitions - Major life changes can shake our foundation and bring up old patterns. Whether you’re navigating a career shift, relationship change, or inner transformation, I help you move through transitions with clarity, self-trust, and integrity.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy - For those navigating deeply entrenched patterns or treatment-resistant conditions, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy can support deeper insight and movement. I offer preparation, integration, and guidance throughout the process in a grounded, intentional way.

Spiritual Integration and Existential Concerns - Sometimes therapy is about more than symptom relief—it’s about reconnecting with something deeper. I work with clients exploring spiritual identity, existential questions, and the search for meaning, drawing from both psychological and contemplative traditions.

Self-Worth & Inner Criticism - Many clients I work with struggle with harsh self-judgment and a deep sense of not-enoughness. Together we soften those patterns, strengthen the connection to your inherent worth, and develop a more compassionate internal dialogue.
