Professional statement

Dr. Tanya Singh is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with adults navigating anxiety, obsessive compulsive thoughts, perfectionism, complex trauma, and intrusive thought patterns. Many of the people she works with are thoughtful, high-functioning, and conscientious, yet find themselves caught in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, shame, and relentless self-criticism. They are often successful on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, and unable to find peace.

Her work focuses on helping clients fundamentally change their relationship with themselves by making sense of their internal experience. She works intuitively and relationally, drawing from a range of evidence-based approaches depending on what is needed in the moment, with a strong emphasis on attunement, emotional processing, and building an internal sense of safety and capacity over time. This may include grounding practices, somatic and parts work, and real-time exploration of what is happening internally.

She also provides trauma-informed work for anxiety and OCD, including exposure and response prevention (ERP), with a focus on pacing, safety, and working with the client’s nervous system rather than against it.

Her perspective is both practical and spiritual. Practically, this means helping clients take clear, values-aligned action grounded in self-understanding and compassion. Spiritually, it involves understanding the broader context of one’s life, developing the capacity to be present, letting go of attachment to outcomes, and integrating both the light and darker aspects of the self into a coherent whole.

In addition, she offers ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) for individuals navigating treatment-resistant conditions, with an emphasis on preparation, psychological safety, and integration.

Dr. Singh holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and trained at Columbia University, Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital, and Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. She offers virtual therapy for adults residing in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and several PSYPACT states including Connecticut, Minnesota, Florida, Washington, Illinois, Virginia, and Maryland.

Message to clients

Being human is not simple. It can feel overwhelming, confusing, and deeply uncomfortable. While we come into the world with a natural sense of wholeness, over time we lose that connection with ourselves. We adapt, we protect, we learn ways to cope, and eventually those patterns can leave us feeling disconnected, stuck, or unsure of who we really are. For me, therapy is about restoring that connection to yourself.

Most people I work with come in feeling fundamentally broken, different, or like they don’t quite belong. They often struggle with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, self-doubt, or a harsh inner critic. My work focuses on helping you make sense of your internal experience and develop a different relationship with yourself and the world, so that even if your external circumstances don’t change, how you experience life does.

Therapy with me is process-oriented and relational. While we may use practical tools and skills, the deeper work happens through engaging with what is unfolding in real time. Over time, this helps you build an internal sense of safety, clarity, and ease of being. This work can be difficult, but it is possible.

I have a deep respect for this process and the people I work with, and I approach it with care and intention, knowing that this work continues to shape me as much as it shapes the people I work with.

Specialties

Anxiety - Anxiety can feel overwhelming and all-consuming, but it is also workable. I help clients understand their anxiety, build tools for self-regulation, and shift their relationship to fear, control, and uncertainty.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) - OCD often stems from deep fears and a need for certainty or control. I support clients in learning how to navigate intrusive thoughts with more freedom and compassion, using evidence-based approaches like IFS and exposure-based work.

Life transitions - Major life changes can shake our foundation and bring up old patterns. Whether you’re navigating a career shift, relationship change, or inner transformation, I help you move through transitions with clarity, self-trust, and integrity.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy - For those navigating deeply entrenched patterns or treatment-resistant conditions, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy can support deeper insight and movement. I offer preparation, integration, and guidance throughout the process in a grounded, intentional way.

Spiritual Integration and Existential Concerns - Sometimes therapy is about more than symptom relief—it’s about reconnecting with something deeper. I work with clients exploring spiritual identity, existential questions, and the search for meaning, drawing from both psychological and contemplative traditions.

Self-Worth & Inner Criticism - Many clients I work with struggle with harsh self-judgment and a deep sense of not-enoughness. Together we soften those patterns, strengthen the connection to your inherent worth, and develop a more compassionate internal dialogue.
