Professional statement

Dr. Tanya Singh is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with adults navigating anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), perfectionism, and periods of significant personal transition. Many of the people she works with are thoughtful, high functioning, and conscientious adults, yet find themselves caught in cycles of overthinking, intrusive thoughts, or relentless self criticism. Although they may appear successful on the outside, internally they often feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to quiet their minds.

Dr. Singh’s approach integrates evidence based treatments with a trauma informed and depth oriented perspective. She draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), internal family systems (IFS), mindfulness based approaches, and somatic awareness to help clients shift longstanding patterns of anxiety, avoidance, and self criticism. Her work is guided by a spiritually integrated understanding of human experience, where emotional and psychological patterns are approached with curiosity, respect, and a sense of deeper meaning. Therapy focuses on helping clients regulate their nervous systems, develop a compassionate relationship with their thoughts and emotions, and build the capacity to stay present with difficult internal experiences.

In addition to traditional psychotherapy, Dr. Singh offers ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) for individuals navigating treatment resistant anxiety, depression, or deeply entrenched patterns. This work emphasizes preparation, psychological safety, and careful integration so insights from the experience can translate into meaningful change. She also works with clients exploring spiritual identity, existential questions, and the integration of profound experiences such as spiritual awakenings or near death experiences.

Dr. Singh holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and trained at institutions including Columbia University, Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital, and Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. She offers virtual therapy for adults residing in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and several PSYPACT states including Connecticut, Arizona, Minnesota, Florida, Colorado, Washington, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, and Maryland.

Message to clients

Being human is not simple. At times it can feel overwhelming, confusing, and deeply uncomfortable. It’s natural to try to reduce that discomfort, and often we do so in ways that help at first but eventually create more suffering. What starts as a way to cope can slowly become a source of pain. I want you to know that there are other ways of being. It is possible to relate to your experience with more ease, clarity, and steadiness, so life does not feel as heavy or difficult to carry.

Many people I work with have felt like too much for most of their lives, caught in cycles of anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or relentless self-criticism, and longing for relief from themselves. And yet, many of these same experiences are also deeply tied to parts of themselves they value, even love. The work is not about getting rid of who you are, but learning to carry yourself with more ease.

In our sessions, we may work on practical tools for regulation, while also creating space for reflection and exploration. I bring training, experience, and clinical skill, but the wisdom you already carry is equally important. My role is to help you reconnect with your own clarity and develop a sense of safety and coherence within yourself.

The world we live in can be uncertain and overwhelming, so the goal is not to eliminate discomfort entirely, but to find steadiness within yourself so you can move through life with greater clarity, resilience, and self-trust.

Specialties

Anxiety - Anxiety can feel overwhelming and all-consuming, but it is also workable. I help clients understand their anxiety, build tools for self-regulation, and shift their relationship to fear, control, and uncertainty.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) - OCD often stems from deep fears and a need for certainty or control. I support clients in learning how to navigate intrusive thoughts with more freedom and compassion, using evidence-based approaches like IFS and exposure-based work.

Life transitions - Major life changes can shake our foundation and bring up old patterns. Whether you’re navigating a career shift, relationship change, or inner transformation, I help you move through transitions with clarity, self-trust, and integrity.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy - For those navigating deeply entrenched patterns or treatment-resistant conditions, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy can support deeper insight and movement. I offer preparation, integration, and guidance throughout the process in a grounded, intentional way.

Spiritual Integration and Existential Concerns - Sometimes therapy is about more than symptom relief—it’s about reconnecting with something deeper. I work with clients exploring spiritual identity, existential questions, and the search for meaning, drawing from both psychological and contemplative traditions.

Self-Worth & Inner Criticism - Many clients I work with struggle with harsh self-judgment and a deep sense of not-enoughness. Together we soften those patterns, strengthen the connection to your inherent worth, and develop a more compassionate internal dialogue.
