Professional statement

Ursa Mou is a therapist based in New York who works with adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Many of her clients are thoughtful and introspective individuals who may appear to have things together externally but internally feel overwhelmed, self-critical, or uncertain about their next steps. She often works with students, young professionals, and individuals exploring questions of identity, belonging, and relationships, particularly those from multicultural or bicultural backgrounds.

Ursa takes an integrative and relational approach to therapy. She draws from several perspectives—relational therapy, psychodynamic insight, mindfulness practices, and Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed work—to help clients better understand their emotional patterns and inner experiences. In therapy, she encourages curiosity toward thoughts, emotions, and the different “parts” of ourselves that can emerge during moments of stress or in relationships. Her goal is to help clients develop greater self-understanding and a more compassionate relationship with themselves.

Ursa received her academic training in psychology and mental health counseling and is committed to providing thoughtful, culturally responsive care. Her work is informed by trauma-informed perspectives and an understanding of how culture, society, family dynamics, and life experiences shape emotional well-being.

Ursa offers therapy sessions via telehealth for adults across New York and aims to create a warm, reflective space where clients can slow down, gain clarity, and move toward meaningful change.

Message to clients

Starting therapy can feel a little intimidating—especially if you’re not sure where to begin. The good news is that you don’t have to arrive with a perfectly organized story or a clear explanation of what’s going on. Sometimes people come in with a lot to say, and sometimes they just say, “I’m not really sure why I’m here.” Both are completely okay.

In our work together, my hope is to create a space where you can slow down, think out loud, and be a little more honest with yourself than you might be able to be in everyday life. We might explore patterns in your relationships, the different parts of you that show up under stress, or simply what it feels like to be you lately. My goal is for therapy to feel like a place where you can be curious about yourself—not judged, not rushed, and definitely not expected to have everything figured out.
