Dr. Willann Stone is a New York State–licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience in private practice. She works primarily with adults who are struggling with trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, and major life transitions. Many of the individuals she sees have lived with emotional pain for a long time or have participated in therapy previously and are seeking a more thoughtful, in-depth approach.
Her work is grounded in an insight-oriented, psychodynamic perspective. She helps clients explore long-standing emotional patterns, internal conflicts, and relational dynamics that may be shaping current difficulties. Dr. Stone approaches therapy as a collaborative process, moving at a pace that feels respectful and manageable, with attention to both emotional understanding and the therapeutic relationship itself.
At the same time, Dr. Stone recognizes that there are moments when a more focused and structured approach is helpful. She has specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based, short-term treatment for PTSD and complex trauma. When appropriate, CPT can be integrated thoughtfully into the work to address trauma-related symptoms more directly, while still holding the broader emotional context in mind.
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Stone has spent 30 years as Director of Psychological Services in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital. In these roles, she also served as Director of the Externship Training Program and as a Senior Supervising Psychologist, working extensively with individuals facing medical illness, chronic pain, neurological injury, and the psychological challenges associated with aging.
Dr. Stone offers in-person sessions in New York City as well as remote therapy for New York State residents. She is currently accepting new patients.
