Professional statement

Wren Bleisch is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in Grand Rapids, MI, and accepting clients throughout the state of Michigan for virtual sessions. Wren has experience and enjoys working with individuals who are struggling with emotional regulation, relationship distress, and the impacts of living in westernized society regarding the systemic oppression it imparts on women, LGBTQ+ and minority individuals. Many of Wren's clients are struggling to find nervous system regulation and balance in their lives, to make meaning of past experiences, or to live a full life that they enjoy that is free of perfectionism and comparison.

Therapy with Wren will be warm, relational, and creative in its flow. Wren enjoys exploring the emotions and body sensations, along with the thoughts and memories that are causing distress. She will use Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, somatic work, and Trauma-Informed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, all while collaborating with the client to understand what works best for the individual. She works to understand how past relationships and events are seeping into the present and causing dysregulation or unpleasant emotions, while providing both empathy and tools for positive growth and change.

Wren practices with cultural humility, respecting the diversity that makes us human, and she is committed to maintaining diversity and inclusivity. She does not find judgment in individuals, symptoms or behaviors, but rather works with the client to become curious about how behaviors and parts have worked and been helpful in the past while moving towards greater balance. Wren holds great respect and hope for the process of building trust, learning together, and finding the growth and change in moving forward.
