Description
The Alcohol Recovery & Relapse Prevention Group is a therapist-led, abstinence-based outpatient program designed for adults (18 and older) who are committed to maintaining sobriety from alcohol. This group is suitable for individuals who have completed detoxification, residential treatment, or outpatient services, as well as those who have experienced a relapse and are seeking structured support to strengthen their recovery.
The group focuses on understanding alcohol use disorder as a chronic, manageable condition and emphasizes the importance of complete abstinence from alcohol. Participants will learn to recognize triggers and high-risk situations, manage cravings and urges, and challenge alcohol-driven thought patterns that may increase the risk of relapse. Sessions incorporate evidence-based psychoeducation, therapeutic discussions, and peer support to encourage accountability and foster lasting behavior change.
Topics covered in the group include relapse prevention planning, coping with stress and emotions without alcohol, managing cravings, strengthening daily routines and recovery support systems, improving decision-making, and developing personalized strategies to maintain long-term sobriety.
This is a closed outpatient group that meets once a week for two-hour sessions and runs in 6-week cycles.
