Early Recovery & Co-Occurring Support Group

Description

The Early Recovery & Co-Occurring Support Group is designed for adults (18+) who are in the early stages of recovery, typically within the first year of sobriety. This group is particularly beneficial for individuals facing emotional challenges such as anxiety, depression, mood fluctuations, or increased stress, while maintaining a primary focus on substance use.

Early recovery can be both emotionally and physically overwhelming. This therapist-led group offers a supportive environment to help participants understand what is occurring in their minds and bodies during this crucial time, while also developing healthier coping strategies and boosting confidence in their sobriety. The sessions combine psychoeducation, therapeutic discussions, and peer support to stabilize recovery during this pivotal phase.

Topics covered in the group include what to expect in early recovery, post-acute withdrawal symptoms (PAWS), the effects of substance use on brain changes, managing emotions without substances, rebuilding identity and self-trust, establishing healthy boundaries and relationships, and planning for ongoing recovery support. This outpatient group meets weekly for 90-minute sessions and operates in closed 6-week cycles.s weekly for 90-minute sessions and operates in closed 6-week cycles.
