Relapse Prevention & Recovery Maintenance Group

Description

The Relapse Prevention and Recovery Maintenance Group is designed for adults (18+) with a primary substance use disorder who are focused on maintaining sobriety and enhancing their recovery. This outpatient group meets weekly for 90-minute sessions and is organized in closed six-week cycles. It is suitable for individuals who have completed detoxification, residential treatment, or outpatient therapy, as well as those who have experienced relapse and want to prevent future setbacks.

Relapse is not just a single event; it is a process. In this structured, therapist-led group, participants learn to identify early warning signs of relapse, manage cravings and triggers, and respond effectively to high-risk situations. Sessions incorporate evidence-based psychoeducation, therapeutic discussions, and peer support to facilitate long-term recovery maintenance.

Topics covered include understanding relapse as a process, managing triggers and cravings, coping with stress and difficult emotions, challenging relapse-driven thinking patterns, strengthening recovery supports and daily routines, and developing a personalized relapse prevention plan. Emphasis is placed on skill development, accountability, and sustainable recovery practices.
