Texas Supervision

Description

Shannon Geneen Kelly, LCSW-S, offers a specialized supervision program designed for Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSWs) aspiring to deepen their clinical skills and knowledge, with a particular emphasis on navigating the complexities of mental health, forensics, trauma work, and integrating traditional evidence-based therapies with innovative approaches like creative expression and mindfulness. Her expertise spans a broad array of therapeutic methodologies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). This comprehensive program is tailored to equip social workers with the tools and insights needed to address a wide range of mental health issues effectively, from severe mental health conditions and personality disorders to trauma and beyond, fostering both their professional and personal growth.

Held bi-weekly on Saturdays from 12PM to 2PM, this program offers an immersive learning experience that blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring participants are well-versed in both the science and art of psychotherapy. Shannon's approach is deeply person-centered, emphasizing the importance of understanding the individual needs of clients and tailoring therapeutic interventions accordingly. The sessions are designed to be interactive, with a strong focus on case studies, role-playing, and peer feedback, facilitating a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Participants are encouraged to explore and integrate various therapeutic strategies, enhancing their versatility and effectiveness as clinicians.

Furthermore, Shannon's unique blend of professional expertise and a nurturing, supportive supervision style creates a safe and enriching space for social workers to explore their potential and challenges. Her program not only aims at developing clinical skills but also at fostering a sense of community among participants, encouraging collaboration, and sharing of experiences and insights. This nurturing environment supports social workers in their journey towards clinical licensure and beyond, preparing them to make a significant impact in the lives of those they serve, with confidence, creativity, and compassion.

Group Therapist

My work blends evidence-based trauma therapy with creativity, movement, and a deep respect for the mind-body connection. I believe healing doesn’t have to feel heavy or rigid to be effective—sometimes it includes curiosity, imagination, laughter, and moments of lightness alongside depth.

I frequently use IFS (Internal Family Systems) because we all have parts of ourselves that carry stories, roles, and wisdom. I also integrate EMDR, and find the combination of EMDR and IFS especially powerful for trauma work. Together, they allow us to process experiences while staying connected, resourced, and embodied.

Sessions may include gentle movement, somatic awareness, tapping, or energy-based practices when helpful. If traditional talk therapy hasn’t worked for you, my approach offers a different doorway—one that honors science and creativity. I bring structure and safety alongside playfulness and humanity, supporting clients in healing in ways that feel more natural, alive, and true to who they are.
