Practice Information

We are a group psychotherapy practice serving adults in New York, New Jersey, and Illinois, specializing in childhood trauma and its long-term impact on emotional health, relationships, and identity. Our work is grounded in a SWANA-centered, decolonial, and Sufi-informed psychological framework, understanding trauma not only as an individual experience, but as something shaped by family systems, culture, migration, religion, and structural power.

Many of our clients are adults who learned to take on too much responsibility early in life; emotionally, practically, or in caretaking roles. They often experience anxiety, depression, chronic self-criticism, difficulty resting, people-pleasing, or disconnection from their needs and inner life. Rather than viewing these as isolated symptoms, we understand them as adaptive responses formed in childhood, often in environments where safety, attunement, or choice were limited.

Our clinicians specialize in childhood emotional neglect, complex and intergenerational trauma, religious or spiritual injury, and family systems shaped by displacement, war, and assimilation. We integrate parts-based therapy, EMDR, narrative therapy, and Sufi-informed psychology to support internal steadiness, emotional discernment, and a more compassionate relationship to the self. Our practice is explicitly anti-oppressive and culturally grounded, offering therapy that does not minimize political reality, cultural identity, or spiritual complexity.

We offer individual therapy via telehealth and welcome referrals from clinicians, physicians, and community providers seeking specialized care for childhood and complex trauma.

FAQS

What services does your practice offer?

We offer individual therapy for adults, as well as couples and family therapy. In addition to individual work, we offer specialized groups and circles, including our Healing Is Resistance circle, the Ramadan Return circle, and a men’s therapy group, all grounded in trauma-informed, culturally and spiritually attuned care. Services are provided via telehealth.

What are your practice's specialties?

We specialize in childhood trauma and complex trauma, including emotional neglect, intergenerational trauma, and family systems shaped by migration, displacement, religion, and systemic oppression. We work frequently with anxiety, depression, shame, burnout, relational difficulties, identity conflict, and spiritual or religious injury, particularly among SWANA and South Asian adults navigating high-responsibility roles and white professional spaces. Our approach is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and grounded in EMDR, parts-based therapy, narrative therapy, and Sufi-informed psychology.

Why should I choose your practice?

You should choose us if you are seeking specialized care for childhood and complex trauma, not just short-term coping strategies. We work with adults whose anxiety, depression, shame, or relationship struggles are rooted in early family dynamics shaped by culture, migration, religion, and systemic pressure. Our clinicians integrate EMDR, parts-based therapy, narrative work, and Sufi-informed psychology within an explicitly SWANA-centered, decolonial, and anti-oppressive framework. We offer therapy that is culturally intelligent, politically aware, and emotionally rigorous; designed for clients who want depth, clarity, and real internal change rather than surface-level symptom relief.

How does payment work at your practice?

Our practice operates on a private-pay basis. Individual therapy sessions are $260 for a 55-minute session, and couples and family therapy are $300 for a 60-minute session. We do not bill insurance directly, but we provide superbills for clients seeking out-of-network reimbursement. Fees are discussed in advance, and payment is due at the time of service.
