Nurtured Counseling & Consulting is a trauma-informed group practice supporting individuals who want to understand their emotional patterns, heal from relational and internal wounds, and reconnect with their sense of self. We work with clients navigating complex family dynamics, codependency, emotional burnout, identity loss, and the effects of growing up in environments where their needs were minimized. Our approach blends grounding practices, relational insight, and compassionate reflection to help clients move from survival patterns into self-trust, clarity, and steadiness.
Our clinicians share a warm, attentive, and deeply human therapeutic style. Jennifer Brigman, LCMHC and RN, brings over 17 years of experience in trauma recovery, family systems, and mind-body integration. She has extensive expertise in narcissistic, covert, and scapegoat abuse recovery, helping clients understand emotional neglect, manipulation, and internalized survival responses. Jennifer supports clients in making sense of their experiences, reducing self-blame, and rebuilding a grounded, confident sense of identity.
Elizabeth Joel, LCMHCA, provides a steady, calm, and nonjudgmental space for clients who have felt unheard or overlooked. She emphasizes emotional regulation skills and supportive coping strategies while centering the therapeutic relationship as a place where clients can feel genuinely seen and accepted. Through this relational safety, clients develop self-compassion and confidence in navigating life’s challenges.
What makes our practice unique is our belief that the therapeutic relationship itself is a powerful source of healing. We build a steady and trusting connection so clients have a secure base from which to explore difficult emotions and experiences. The work can be challenging and deeply meaningful. Here, you do not have to face it alone. We honor your pace and capacity, supporting both the courage to go deeper and the safety needed to grow.
Nurtured Counseling & Consulting provides therapy for children (ages 8+), adolescents, and adults across the lifespan. We offer individual, couples, and family therapy, and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Our clinicians work to create a relational, supportive, and affirming space where clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood. We also offer clinical supervision for provisionally licensed therapists (in NC only) and consultation for professionals. Sessions are available in person and via secure telehealth to support comfort, access, and flexibility.
At Nurtured Counseling & Consulting, we accept most major insurance plans, including commercial insurance and North Carolina Medicaid. For clients who prefer to pay privately or whose plans are out-of-network, our session fees typically range from $108 to $150, depending on the clinician and service provided. We also provide superbills for clients who wish to utilize out-of-network reimbursement. If you have questions about coverage, deductibles, or payment options, we’ll walk through it together so you feel informed and supported every step of the way.
We integrate multiple therapeutic modalities and person-centered assessment to address your unique needs. Our focus is on sustainable healing and strengthening your sense of self, not just short-term symptom relief.
The therapists at Nurtured Counseling & Consulting specialize in supporting clients navigating complex relational and developmental trauma throughout the lifespan. We have particular expertise in narcissistic, covert, and scapegoat abuse recovery, as well as the impacts of emotional neglect, enmeshment, and chronic invalidation in family systems. Many of our clients come to us after years of feeling unseen, overly responsible, or disconnected from their own needs and identity. We also work with anxiety, depression, burnout, and codependency, helping clients understand their emotional patterns, develop self-compassion, and rebuild a grounded sense of self. Our approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and relational at its core. We believe that healing happens within safe, steady, and attuned relationships, and we work at a pace that supports both the courage to go deeper and the sense of safety needed to grow.
