Dr. Nguyen is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist who takes care of patients of all ages focused on college students and young adults (ages 18-35). He believes that mental health is not one-size-fits-all—especially for those who were never given the language to talk about their inner experiences. His goal is to make mental health easier to understand, more approachable, and rooted in each person’s lived experience.
During your first visit, Dr. Nguyen takes time to understand your full story—your mental health concerns, medical history, cultural background, lifestyle, and personal values. From there, you will work together to build a thoughtful, individualized treatment plan. This may include lifestyle changes, therapy, and/or medication, always tailored to your goals and preferences.
Dr. Nguyen completed his adult psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine and his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Boston Children’s Hospital. His approach integrates traditional psychiatric treatment with lifestyle and nutritional psychiatry, recognizing the powerful role that sleep, movement, diet, and environment play in mental well-being.
He draws from a range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and supportive therapy, and is particularly interested in working with anxiety, depression, and culturally rooted mental health concerns. His work often focuses on those seeking a more holistic, non-medication-first approach to care. He works collaboratively with patients to use the least amount of medication necessary while maximizing overall functioning and quality of life.
All care is delivered via telepsychiatry for patients in Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas, with the option of limited in-person visits in Houston, Texas for patients interested in controlled medications for ADHD.
