Professional statement

Dr. Alexandra Karydi is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and behavioral-health executive based in New York City. She works with adults, couples, and professionals navigating trauma, grief, identity development, and major life transitions. Many of her clients are caregivers, clinicians, or leaders who excel in their work but struggle to find balance, connection, and peace in their personal lives.

Alexandra’s clinical work integrates attachment-based, trauma-informed, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) approaches. Grounded in compassion and science, she helps clients identify long-standing patterns, regulate emotions, and rebuild trust in themselves and others. Her style is collaborative, direct, and deeply attuned to the influence of early experiences, relationships, and culture on current challenges.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Karydi directs national suicide-prevention and mental-health initiatives funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs. With two doctorates—in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Sexology—she brings advanced training in trauma, grief, and LGBTQIA2S+ well-being to her clinical and consultation work.

Dr. Karydi provides secure online therapy exclusively via telehealth for clients located in New York, Virginia, and South Carolina.

Message to clients

Therapy is a place to slow down, feel seen, and make sense of the parts of life that no longer fit. I see our work together as a true partnership—built on trust, honesty, and curiosity. My role is to help you recognize the patterns that keep you stuck, strengthen your sense of safety and self-worth, and build relationships that feel authentic and nourishing.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, combining reflection with practical tools you can use in everyday life. My hope is that therapy becomes a steady place to land—a space where you can reconnect with yourself, heal what hurts, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and peace.
