Buffy works best with clients who are open to growth and interested in being active participants in their own process. Her ideal clients are curious, willing to explore new perspectives, and open to trying things differently, even when it feels uncomfortable. They tend to take the work seriously, but not always themselves too seriously.
Her approach is rooted in honesty, the kind that is useful but occasionally a little uncomfortable. She believes therapy should be a place where things are said out loud, even the messy or inconvenient truths. At the same time, she makes space for humor, because sometimes the most human response to how hard life can be is to laugh at it. Therapy with her often includes both: direct conversations and moments of levity that make the hard parts feel more manageable.
Her professional path has been anything but linear, and she considers that a strength. She started out as a waitress and day bartender, where she learned how to read people quickly, communicate clearly, and set firm boundaries (no, you cannot have a double Grey Goose neat with a Coke back and no ice, gross). She later worked as a personal assistant to the CEO of an internet company, managing the day-to-day realities of a very full (and very private) life, details she still can’t share, thanks to a firmly intact NDA. She was a school counselor for 6 years and in private practice and corporate therapy since 2020.
Outside of her professional roles, she is also a parent of three and has experienced divorce, loss of a parent, and the Sunday scaries. She doesn’t position herself as someone who has it all figured out, but as someone who has lived, adapted, and kept going, and who brings that grounded understanding into the therapy room.
