Professional statement

Cara Crocker, LMFT, is a Sacramento-based therapist whose practice centers on couples work, perinatal mental health, and support for highly sensitive people. She works with adults, couples, and families who are living through pivotal moments — the arrival of a new baby, the slow erosion of connection, the question of who they are on the other side of change.

Her therapeutic approach integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and an attachment-informed framework. Cara understands that healing rarely happens through insight alone — it unfolds in the body, in relationship, and in the quiet permission to be more fully oneself.

Clients often describe Cara as both deeply present and intellectually engaged. She holds space with genuine warmth while bringing structure and clinical grounding to the work. Her sessions are collaborative and relational, shaped by the belief that the therapeutic relationship itself is a vehicle for healing.

Cara practices in Sacramento and provides telehealth services across California. She holds specialized training in perinatal mental health and Emotionally Focused Therapy. She is particularly drawn to working with HSPs navigating relationship patterns, early parenthood, and midlife transitions. A free consultation is available to explore whether her approach is a good fit.

Message to clients

There are a few things I want you to know before we start. Therapy with me tends to be relational and exploratory — we go at the pace that’s right for you, and I’ll never push you somewhere your system isn’t ready to go. If you’re highly sensitive, you may have spent a lifetime being told you feel too much. In our work together, your sensitivity isn’t something to manage — it’s something to understand, and often, to reclaim.

My deepest hope is that you leave our work together feeling more at home in yourself. Not a fixed or finished version of yourself — but a more honest one. One who knows their own rhythms, trusts their inner life, and can find their way back to connection — with others, and with themselves.
