Professional statement

Cassandra Massey, JD, MA, AMFT, is a marriage and relationship therapist who works with couples and individuals who feel stuck in painful relational patterns and are seeking greater clarity about the future of their relationships. Many of the couples she sees are experiencing recurring conflict, communication breakdowns, emotional distance, or uncertainty about whether their marriage can be repaired. Cassandra helps partners slow down reactive cycles, understand the dynamics that have developed between them, and thoughtfully explore what direction makes the most sense for the relationship moving forward.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative, relational, somatic, and trauma-informed. Cassandra works collaboratively with clients to increase emotional awareness, build regulation skills, and strengthen the capacity for honest and effective communication. In couples therapy, she focuses on helping partners understand the patterns shaping their relationship while developing new ways of relating that support greater connection, accountability, and clarity.

Cassandra’s professional background brings a unique perspective to her work with couples. Before becoming a therapist, she worked as a family lawyer and mediator. This experience gives her a deep understanding of the emotional and financial consequences of unresolved conflict, as well as the complexity of relational decision-making. She brings a grounded, steady presence to high-stakes situations and supports clients in approaching difficult conversations with clarity and intention.

Her clinical work integrates relational, attachment-based, somatic, and mindfulness-informed approaches. She helps clients deepen self-awareness, regulate emotional responses, and shift entrenched relational patterns in order to build healthier, more secure relationships.

She provides secure telehealth sessions for clients located throughout California. As an out-of-network provider, she can provide superbills for potential insurance reimbursement.

Message to clients

When couples reach a point of deep conflict or uncertainty about the future of their relationship, it can feel overwhelming and isolating. My hope is to provide a thoughtful and steady space where you can slow down the cycle of conflict, understand what has been happening between you, and begin having the conversations that often feel too difficult to navigate alone.

In our work together, my goal is not to push you toward a particular outcome. Instead, I help couples approach these moments with greater clarity, honesty, and care. Whether partners ultimately choose to rebuild the relationship or move in different directions, I believe it is possible to approach these decisions with intention and respect.

For individuals and couples alike, I hope therapy becomes a place where you can deepen your understanding of yourself, strengthen your capacity for reflection and communication, and begin moving toward relationships that feel more secure, grounded, and aligned with your values.
