Professional statement

Cecilia Clarke is a Licensed Master Social Worker located in New York, NY. She offers individual and couples sessions to teenagers, young adults, and adults. Many of her clients begin their therapy journey because they’re looking for answers or a deeper sense of meaning in their lives. They might also struggle with anxiety or depression, including distressing emotions caused by life transitions, school, work, artist’s block, or pre- or post-pregnancy.

In sessions with Cecilia, clients benefit from her psychodynamic approach. Through this approach, clients explore their inner worlds, including their thoughts, feelings, dreams, desires, and hopes. Cecilia guides them through introspection and connection-making, helping them piece together how their minds came to be the way they are today. She also incorporates mindfulness, raising self-awareness through grounding exercises.

Cecilia earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University. She previously worked in the non-profit field, with decades of professional experience that she draws on in her work with clients.

Message to clients

I am a mature, seasoned professional with years of experience running gender- and racial-justice organizations as well as in the arts. A few years ago i made a major career transition to becoming a therapist and I am honored and deeply humbled by the wonderful clients with whom i work. I believe my experience in the non-profit field as well as making a major career transition contribute to a positive and insightful experience for my clients.

I enjoy working with all ages and especially young adults in 2nd quartile (25 -45) as well as clients who work in creative fields. i have been trained psychodynamically but also in trauma-informed approaches, grounding and breathing, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for couples, as well as training for peri-natal treatment.

As an older clinician I offer a warm, understanding, and supportive approach with a little humor thrown in!

Please feel free to reach out for a free-of-charge consult to see if we might be a good fit.
