Professional statement

Dr. Jessica Luiz is a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to supporting individual adults and couples seeking meaningful change in their lives. Her clients often come to her carrying emotional pain—whether it's the daily impact of anxiety or depression, feeling disconnected in relationships, or struggling with stress and self-criticism at work. Dr. Luiz helps her clients explore these present challenges, uncover and release painful past experiences, and re-engage more fully with their careers, relationships, and personal lives.

In therapy, Dr. Luiz combines insight-oriented exploration with practical, evidenced-based approaches (CBT and ACT). She gently encourages clients to identify the root causes of their emotional and relationship patterns while providing strategies, such as relaxation and mindfulness techniques to offer immediate relief.

She specializes in helping adults navigate significant life changes related to health, relationships, parenthood, careers, and education. Dr. Luiz also has expertise in addressing depression, anxiety (including social anxiety, phobias, OCD, and skin/hair-picking behaviors), trauma (acute and chronic), as well as perinatal and postpartum mental health challenges. As a trauma-informed therapist, she is attuned to how past experiences influence present difficulties and works with clients to reshape their life narrative in a way that fosters self-confidence and compassion. Her top priority with new clients is creating a safe, welcoming space where they feel heard and empowered.

Dr. Luiz is committed to creating an inclusive practice, welcoming clients who are exploring diverse identities (multiracial, non-monogamous, gender fluid, LGBTQIA+) and how these identities shape their life experiences. She offers the flexibility of remote therapy sessions and is currently accepting new clients into her online practice.

Message to clients

Hi there, I’m Dr. Jessica Luiz, a licensed clinical psychologist. I work with adults who are thoughtful, capable, and often exhausted from trying to hold everything together. If you find yourself stuck in loops of self-doubt, over-functioning, or fear of getting it wrong, you're not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and grounded in real-life complexity. I bring honesty, compassion, cultural awareness, and the occasional well-timed eyebrow raise or laugh. My work is deeply influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps us gently unhook from old patterns, get clear on what truly matters, and take meaningful action—even in the presence of pain or uncertainty.

As a biracial, first-generation Filipino American woman, I know how identity, family, grief, and resilience can all live in the same story. I’m especially attuned to clients navigating caregiving roles, cultural expectations, perfectionism, relationship changes, or simply the quiet ache of not feeling like yourself anymore.

My goal is to offer a space where you don’t have to perform or overexplain. Just show up as you are, and we’ll work together from there.

If this resonates with you, I’d love the opportunity to support you on your path forward.
