Professional statement

Dr. Joe Rustum works with high-achieving professionals, executives, business owners, and driven individuals who look capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, burned out, self-critical, or stuck in constant overthinking. Many of his clients are navigating anxiety, perfectionism, career pressure, relationship stress, leadership challenges, or major life transitions.

His therapy approach is practical, collaborative, and goal-focused. He helps clients clarify what is not working, understand the patterns keeping them stuck, and build concrete strategies for improving boundaries, confidence, communication, decision-making, and follow-through. The goal is not just insight, but meaningful change in day-to-day life.

Dr. Rustum is a licensed clinical psychologist who also provides executive coaching and consultation. His background allows him to work effectively with professionals who want therapy that is thoughtful, direct, and connected to real-world demands. He is especially interested in helping clients manage stress, improve performance, and create a healthier relationship with work, achievement, and responsibility.

Dr. Rustum offers remote therapy for clients in New York and many other states through PsyPact, along with in-person sessions in Nashville and Brentwood, Tennessee. Prospective clients can contact him by phone or email to schedule a free consultation and determine whether his approach is a good fit.

Message to clients

My goal is to help you make real progress, not just talk in circles. I work best with clients who want therapy that is thoughtful, practical, and focused on meaningful change. We will clarify what you want to improve, identify the patterns keeping you stuck, and build a plan that fits your actual life, responsibilities, and goals.

In our work together, I will check in regularly about what is helping, what is not, and whether we are moving in the right direction. Therapy should feel useful, collaborative, and connected to the real challenges you are facing, whether that involves anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, relationship stress, career pressure, or difficulty setting boundaries.

I understand that high-achieving people often look like they are managing well while privately feeling overwhelmed, self-critical, or stretched too thin. My hope is that you leave therapy with more clarity, stronger boundaries, better tools for managing stress, and greater confidence in how you handle your personal and professional life.

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting. Part of the work is slowing down enough to understand what is driving the stress, pressure, or dissatisfaction, and then making realistic changes that help you feel more grounded, capable, and aligned with what matters most to you.
