Professional statement

My multicultural family taught me to celebrate differences and see them as strengths that help us through tough times. I’m interested in how childhood, family, trauma, and social/cultural factors affect our relationship with ourselves and the world. I also have an appreciation for how systems in our lives uniquely affect us.

I believe true empowerment and healing come through human connection and relationships, that intimacy (closeness) is not something that happens spontaneously but is a learned relational skill. I’m here to support you with that.

I’ll maintain a safe space, a calm and non-judgmental presence, and an empathic stance. Research shows the better the therapeutic relationship is, the better the results are. We’ll take time to build that foundation together.

I’m more relational than clinical in my approach. In other words, we’ll talk to each other like people. We’ll often take a person-centered approach, meaning you lead the change process.

I earned my master’s degree in Social Work from Millersville University, reinforcing a strengths-based perspective and keen awareness of systemic issues.

I initially trained in Eco-systemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT), helping kids and families change unhelpful patterns with each other, peers, school, and communities. Interventions addressed: trauma, attachment, relationship dynamics and patterns, boundaries, self-harm, and family violence.

In recent years, I developed an eclectic approach with individuals, using strategies associated with: CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, ACT, Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment-Based, Trauma-Informed, IFS.

In my free time, I enjoy lots of music, cabins in the woods, cooking/baking, rooting for Philly sports teams, and seeing my nieces. I’m passionate about social justice and human rights, which inform how I treat others in and outside the office.
