Professional statement

I know that finding a therapist who actually 'gets' you can feel like a daunting task. Whether you’re a college student feeling the weight of the world, a teenager trying to find your voice, or an adult navigating the aftermath of trauma, you deserve a space where you can be yourself, unfiltered. I bring a warm, casual, and empathetic energy to the room, often using humor and genuine compassion to make the therapeutic work feel a little less heavy.

My background is a bit different than most. I’ve spent years working within the criminal justice system, supporting individuals through complex mental health challenges and deep-seated trauma histories. This experience has given me a unique perspective on resilience and a specialized passion for working with those impacted by intimate partner violence on all ends of the spectrum. I’m not here to judge where you’ve been; I’m here to help you figure out where you’re going. Together, we’ll use tools from CBT and DBT to uncover the patterns holding you back and replace them with practical strategies that actually work in your real life.

I also believe that for younger clients, 'talk' isn't always the only language. I love working with children and adolescents through play and art therapy, building on their natural strengths and interests. When I work with families, I take a collaborative, team-based approach so that both the child and the parent feel seen and supported. Whether we are diving deep into your thoughts or using a playful approach to navigate a tough transition, my goal is to provide a nonjudgmental anchor while you build the confidence to move forward.

Message to clients

Before we sit down together, I want you to know that you don't have to "prepare" a version of yourself that is ready for therapy. Many of my clients come to me during their messiest chapters, and after years of working within the criminal justice system and with complex trauma, I can promise you that I am entirely unshockable. My hope for you is that our sessions become the one place where you can be completely yourself, unfiltered, raw, and even humorous when things feel heavy.

I’m not a "blank slate" therapist who just nods and stays silent; I’m an active partner who is right there with you. While I bring the clinical structure of CBT and DBT, I leave the coldness at the door. I want you to know that it’s okay to laugh in our sessions, it’s okay to be frustrated, and it’s okay to not have all the answers. My goal is to help you work from where you are now to where you want to be, using a mix of practical skills and genuine, down-to-earth conversation.
