Professional statement

Kimmy Fourney is a holistic therapist who specializes in working with teens and adults navigating religious/relational trauma and anxious attachment. Clients often come to her to explore patterns of people pleasing, perfectionism, shame, and self-doubt, as well as to slow down, listen to their inner experience, and learn how to honor their needs. Many of her clients are highly capable and skilled at holding everything together on the outside, yet feel exhausted, burned out, and isolated on the inside.

Kimmy offers a warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental space through a compassionate, whole-body approach that honors your story. Her work is rooted in curiosity, openness, and deep respect for your lived experience, with a foundation in the body and nervous system to support you in feeling grounded, more in control, and able to trust your internal experience again. She believes that every part of you, including the parts you may question or struggle to understand, deserves to be seen, acknowledged, and valued.

Kimmy approaches therapy with a commitment to growth, curiosity, and nervous system–informed care. She supports clients in developing boundaries that respect their capacity while gently reconnecting with parts of themselves that feel most true, steady, and grounded. Kimmy supports clients in exploring patterns and relationships that are ready to shift, and in making those changes with care and intention. She helps clients expand their capacity to tolerate uncomfortable and distressing experiences, so they can move through challenges with greater steadiness, self-trust, and resilience. Kimmy has advanced training in EMDR and somatic trauma treatment. She is a board certified art therapist and integrates talk therapy, art therapy, and body-based approaches depending on each client’s needs and preferences.

Kimmy offers virtual therapy sessions in Maryland and Texas and is available Monday through Thursday by appointment.

Message to clients

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or seeking support, you’ve already taken a brave step by exploring therapy. You don’t need to have all the words, sometimes healing begins in a quiet moment, or in the courage to simply show up. You don’t have to face this alone.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about discovering, honoring, and reconnecting with who you already are. Here, therapy is more than talking, it’s a space to explore, create, and gently rediscover the parts of yourself that may feel hidden, uncertain, or hurt. Together, we’ll honor your story while shaping new paths forward with curiosity, compassion, and creativity.

You might be struggling to understand your needs, show up authentically in relationships, navigate questions of identity, or notice that old survival strategies no longer serve you. Whatever brings you here, you deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported.

In our work together, we’ll focus on healing past wounds, understanding your needs, and cultivating a more compassionate relationship with yourself. Together, we can nurture your strengths, care for what still aches, and gently open the door to a future where you feel more whole, more yourself, and deeply at home in your own skin.
