Professional statement

Liz Wenger is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Newport Beach, CA. She works with teenagers, young adults, and adults, including individuals, couples, and families. Many of her clients find themselves unable to open up to their loved ones and talk about their feelings, which can hold them back from feeling fully connected or supported by those around them. They want to work through deep pains that they have but aren’t sure how to begin. Liz specializes in helping clients communicate, whether they’re teenagers navigating high school, couples going through challenges, or new parents who want to grow their families.

To support healthy communication, Liz offers multiple therapy approaches, from psychodynamic therapy to Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to attachment based therapy. She draws techniques from each type of therapy to provide clients with mental health services that are just right for them and their situations. Her goal is to acknowledge and overcome the roadblocks to connection and to increase confidence and resilience.

Liz earned a Master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology, with over 25 years of experience as a therapist. She enjoys bringing humor into her sessions and is an astute, empathetic listener. She’s previously worked in healthcare, school, and recovery center settings, bringing expertise to her private practice.

Message to clients

I specialize in helping FAMILIES open up the communication, discuss difficult topics safely and openly, ensure all family members are heard and held, process deeper hurts and pains to release them and connect to each other more truly. I help COUPLES face the resistances that block their connections, assist with parenting, and develop ways of interacting that promote togetherness and intimacy. I help TEENS & YOUNG ADULTS cope and conquer the developmental, relational, social, and emotional pressures by exploring their inner dialogue, validating their concerns, recognizing their resilience thus developing self confidence.

I LOVE people. I deeply care. I am a good listener. I use humor to help get us through.I come from a big family that has trained me in chaos management, in NOT overlooking the details, and in togetherness (among other things). I have years of diversified clinical experience from working in schools, hospitals, one on one settings, groups and recovery centers

I see people as bright lights. We are all born perfect. Life happens though and our lights can get dim, even dark. Healing happens when we can express our pains, our sufferings, our fears in a supportive environment. These darkened spots lift. We are brighter, more confident in our unique brilliance. Then, We strive and grow. Come in! I'd love to help.
