Michelle Cortez is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals and couples navigating a wide range of emotional and relational challenges. She specializes in supporting clients through issues such as anxiety, trauma, depression, life transitions, relationship difficulties, body image concerns, and cultural identity exploration. Michelle also has a passion for helping couples strengthen their connection—whether that means rebuilding trust, improving communication, or deepening emotional intimacy.
Michelle’s approach to therapy is relational, collaborative, and trauma-informed. She creates a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their stories and empowered to make meaningful change. Drawing on a variety of evidence-based modalities—including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, The Gottman Method for couples, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and client-centered therapy—Michelle tailors her work to meet each client’s unique goals. She also incorporates therapeutic journaling as a tool for reflection and healing outside of sessions.
Michelle earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Throughout her training, she has focused on working with trauma, relational dynamics, and anxiety-related disorders. She is committed to ongoing learning and showing up with authenticity, curiosity, and heart in every session.
