Professional statement

Roberta Hoyle is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor who works with adults navigating trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, and significant life stressors. She is passionate about supporting individuals experiencing trauma, recovery from substance use, occupational stress, and life transitions. Roberta also has a strong interest in working with individuals in high-pressure lives and professions who may struggle with stigma around seeking support. Her goal is to provide a safe, compassionate environment where clients feel understood and empowered to explore meaningful change.

Roberta’s therapeutic style is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in both empathy and practical skill-building. She draws from evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, and other integrative, client-centered methods. Roberta believes that therapy should honor each person’s lived experience while also helping clients develop tools for emotional regulation, healthier boundaries, and greater psychological flexibility. She works with clients to help them better understand patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and relationships while building strategies that support resilience.

Roberta’s professional background includes working in community-based behavioral health settings serving adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Through this work, she has developed experience supporting clients facing complex mental health challenges while navigating social, relational, and systemic stressors. In addition to her clinical work, Roberta continues in advanced doctoral-level training in psychology, where her academic research focuses on trauma, occupational mental health, and the psychological impacts of stigma. This combination of clinical practice and ongoing scholarship allows her to bring both compassion and evidence-based insight into her therapeutic work.

Roberta currently provides remote telehealth therapy, allowing clients to access support from the privacy and comfort of their own environment. Roberta believes that healing happens through safe relationships, honest conversation, and the courage to take small steps toward change, and she feels honored to walk alongside her clients.

Message to clients

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and if you’re here, I want you to know that I already have a lot of respect for the courage it takes to reach out. Life can get heavy sometimes, and you don’t have to carry everything on your own. My hope is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, with no pressure to have the “right” words or to have everything figured out.

When we work together, I see therapy as a collaborative process. We’ll talk about what’s going on in your life, explore patterns that may be getting in the way, and build practical tools to help you feel more grounded, resilient, and connected to the life you want to live. I believe healing happens in safe relationships, and I approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and a little humor—because even in the hardest seasons, we’re still human.

My hope for you is that therapy becomes a place where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to grow. Whether you’re navigating trauma, stress, relationships, recovery, or simply trying to make sense of where you are in life, we’ll take it one step at a time together.
