Professional statement

Dr. O’Mara is a clinical psychologist with 12 years of education and training at 13 years of work experience. She has worked in universities and hospitals in addition to her own practice. She is a speaker, published author, and has taught at the college level.

Dr. O'Mara‘s specialty areas include trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and depression.

Dr. O'Mara uses evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (focused on identifying thoughts and behaviors that lead to certain emotions and learning new coping skills), Narrative Therapy (specifically for PTSD where we together write about your trauma in order to integrate it into the rest of your experiences and heal from it), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (learning to accept difficult emotions without fighting them and committing to a value based life).

While rooted in evidence based treatments, Dr. O’Mara believes that one of the strongest outcomes of successful treatment is the therapeutic relationship. Having a safe person to talk about your difficulties can be incredibly healing. Building a trusting relationship based on mutual respect is of the highest importance to

Finally, Dr. O’Mara is a very interactive therapist who uses questions and suggestions to help guide treatment. She will also assign you in between session homework to speed up the healing process.

Message to clients

Hello and welcome to my page! You have taken the first step towards your healing journey, and I applaud you for that.

I believe that being a psychologist is my calling in life. I am very passionate about helping people reach their full potential, not just getting rid of symptoms. I hope you will find me to be a caring and compassionate psychologist to help you navigate whatever it is you are going through.

I am a very egalitarian psychologist. I do not believe in “I’m the doctor, you’re the patient. I will tell you what to do, and you will get better.“ I see us as a team. I have expertise in mental health treatment and you have expertise in you and what works best for your individual needs. Together, we form a team to help you get to a better place.

I would be honored to walk alongside you and guide you from surviving to thriving.
