Professional statement

Shelly approaches healing from a strength-based and trauma-informed perspective. Her extensive training in trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy has allowed her to develop critical skills for working with trauma in a compassionate and effective manner. Shelly also believes in the importance of individual and community empowerment. By helping clients process through and overcome challenges, she seeks to help clients discover their inner strengths and resilience. Through the therapy process, Shelly works with her clients to further explore and develop their skills and strengths to pursue their goals with greater optimism and confidence.

Shelly also has extensive experience working with children and adolescents in both a school and mental health setting. This has given her a strong foundation in understanding the different developmental needs of individuals at different stages of life. Further, her work with families has given her expertise in navigating family dynamics and examining the impact of systems and interpersonal relationships on an individual’s wellbeing.

Shelly takes a holistic approach to her work and seeks to understand a client within the context of their unique life. In therapy, there is no one size fits all. Shelly takes her time to get to know each client to ensure that the therapy experience is personalized to satisfy each individual’s unique goals and needs.

Message to clients

I take a person-centered approach to my work, which means that I acknowledge that you are the expert of your own life. I’m not here to judge or tell you what to do. Instead, I’m here to listen and support you. Together, I hope to work with you to discover your authentic self, so that you can live a life in alignment with your true values.
