Professional statement

Silvia DaRe is an Italian-American Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over fifteen years of experience working with trauma, attachment wounds, and high-conflict couples in Massachusetts. She works primarily with thoughtful, psychologically minded individuals and couples who feel stuck in painful relational patterns despite insight and effort. Many of her clients function well externally but struggle with emotional numbness, chronic disconnection, cycles of conflict, or difficulties with trust, intimacy, and vulnerability. Silvia has particular experience working with couples impacted by betrayal or infidelity, as well as individuals with developmental and relational trauma histories.

Drawing from Relational Life Therapy (RLT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and systemic family therapy, Silvia understands problematic behaviors as organized survival strategies rather than character flaws. Therapy focuses on identifying the protective parts that drive patterns, understanding what they are guarding, and strengthening clients’ capacity to respond from a more grounded, regulated, and connected internal state. With couples, Silvia pays close attention to how power, vulnerability, longing, and protection are negotiated between partners, and works actively to move relationships out of blame, gridlock, and polarization.

Silvia works in an engaged, direct, and collaborative manner, balancing depth-oriented exploration with experiential and skills-based interventions. She places strong importance on the therapeutic relationship as a space where relational patterns can be observed in real time and worked through with honesty and accountability. Her style tends to resonate with clients who value psychological depth and are open to examining how early relational experiences continue to shape present-day choices and relationships.

Silvia is licensed in Massachusetts and provides telehealth services statewide. She is in-network with Aetna and accepts select additional insurance plans.

Message to clients

Many of the individuals and couples who come to see me are thoughtful, capable, and psychologically minded, yet find themselves repeating painful relational patterns—withdrawal, conflict, emotional shutdown, or cycles of pursuit and distance. You may recognize these patterns intellectually and still feel unable to change them in the moments that matter most.

I work with couples and individuals from a relational and parts-based perspective, informed by Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). From this view, problematic behaviors are not simply “bad habits,” but organized survival strategies shaped by earlier relational experiences. In therapy, we identify the protective parts that run these patterns, understand what they are guarding, and gradually strengthen the capacity to respond from a more grounded, connected place. My work is active, honest, and depth-oriented.

My hope is that through this process you develop more internal leadership, greater emotional range, and the ability to show up in your relationships with more choice rather than reflex.
