Professional statement

Virginia Scott is a psychotherapist licensed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Colorado who works with couples and individual adults to understand and disrupt unhelpful patterns, better cope with challenging situations and create more safety, self-acceptance and healthy expression in their lives.

She often support clients who are navigating relationship issues, caregiver stress, grief, complex trauma or anxiety and offers unique therapeutic perspectives when supporting those processing childhood rejection, ADHD and executive functioning challenges, university stress, or careers in the arts.

Virginia creates a space for you to bring your whole self, feel safe, respected and understood as well as learn new skills and take on new perspectives. Virginia does not provide one-size-fits-all therapy, but tailors experiences to the individual needs of each person or couple. She draws from cognitive-behavioral, relational, and trauma-informed strategies, while also integrating expressive arts and movement or somatic approaches when useful.

Virginia offers a steady and reliable presence. Her clinical practice is informed by her career in the performing arts where she taught or directed at programs such as Juilliard, NYU TISCH, and Yale School of Drama, and she has completed advanced study in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy at Boston University and Expressive Arts Therapy through SUNY Albany.

Sessions are virtual and Virginia has immediate availability as of May 2026.

Message to clients

All that is specific to you that will unlock greater fulfillment, more satisfying relationships and increased peace and joy - that is what we're after! Ultimately, we'll work together to uncover how to leverage your strengths and integrate your challenges to foster more happiness and purpose.

Clients who work with me gain a more clear understanding of what is really going on for them and what is happening in their relationships. They are then able to find the ways to make positive changes in their thoughts, assessments, and actions, resulting in greater functioning in their lives and more effective self-expression.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns, hurt, or in pain, you don’t have to go it alone. I offer a thoughtful, grounded, and relational space where you can bring your authentic self and feel genuinely supported.
