Practice Information

I’m Gina M. Innocente, founder and clinical director of the practice. I was born and raised in South Jersey and built successful practices throughout New Jersey. In 2007, I relocated to my hometown and opened a practice in Somers Point. I’ve been in practice for over 25 years — long enough to watch therapy evolve from mostly insight-oriented conversations into a field shaped by neuroscience and attachment research.

I’m a doctoral-level clinician trained at the University of Pennsylvania, a college professor, clinical supervisor, and someone who genuinely loves being a therapist. But people tend to remember less about my credentials and more about the fact that I’m deeply human. I love Freud, true crime, gigantic Lego sets, and people who can make me belly laugh. My social battery lasts about ten minutes on a good day. I run five minutes late, and I use self-deprecating humor and sarcasm when I feel awkward or nervous. I believe laughing in therapy can be just as important as crying. I have very little patience for therapist mumbo-jumbo or clinicians who mistake certifications for

Over the years, I’ve built a reputation for being authentic, relatable, and unusually attuned to people — understanding not just what they’re saying, but often what they’re feeling, struggling with, or trying not to say at all. That ability to step into another person’s inner world is part of what drew me to psychotherapy in the first place. Over the years, I have become passionate about improving the overall quality of mental health care and making genuinely good therapy more accessible. I created the Center for Clinical Training and Psychotherapy, where licensed clinicians provide in-network care while receiving intensive supervision, advanced education, and training within GIA Institute's relational model of care.

FAQS

What services does your practice offer?

We offer individual, couples, family, and group counseling for children, teens, and adults, including traditional psychotherapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, play therapy, art therapy, and other expressive modalities. We also offer DBT and trauma-focused groups, helping clients build skills to manage emotions, relationships, communication, and life transitions or challenges.

Through our Family Center, we work with children and teens using relational, attachment-based, and developmentally informed approaches in our professional expressive arts studio, therapeutic playroom, and family therapy suites.

As part of the GIA Institute of Psychotherapy, our practice also serves as a post-graduate clinical training center where our licensed therapists receive advanced training, education, and intensive supervision within GIA’s relational model of care.

How does payment work at your practice?

We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Amerihealth, and Aetna. If you do not have one of these health insurance plans, our fees range from $150 to $225, depending on the provider and services offered. For out-of-network clients, we are happy to provide you with superbills to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Why should I choose your practice?

We believe effective therapy is both an art and a science. As relational therapists, we deeply understand the importance of working with someone who truly gets you and helps you feel seen, heard, and understood. Our work combines genuine human connection with neuroscience-informed, evidence-based approaches that offer practical and proven strategies for change. Clients choose our practice for our relational approach, our commitment to advanced training and clinical excellence, and our ability to balance the art of human connection with the science of real change.

What are your practice's specialties?

Our specialties include trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship and family issues, emotional regulation, attachment and relational concerns, life transitions, parenting support, and work with deeply feeling or neurodivergent children and teens. We specialize in relational and attachment-based psychotherapy and offer services including EMDR, DBT, Internal Family Systems (IFS), play therapy, art therapy, expressive therapies, trauma-focused therapy, and family therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
