Professional statement

Emily DiPalma is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with couples who are capable, accomplished, and deeply invested in their lives, but feel increasingly disconnected from one another. On the surface, things may look stable. Beneath it, tension lingers, conversations loop, and emotional and physical intimacy have slowly eroded under the weight of careers, parenting, and long-term stress.

Emily specializes in helping couples step out of reactive cycles and into a more secure, attuned way of relating. Her work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method, with sessions that are thoughtful, structured, and emotionally focused. She takes an active, collaborative approach, helping partners slow down, understand what is driving their conflict, and rebuild trust, safety, and connection in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable.

In addition to couples work, Emily supports individuals navigating concerns related to food, body image, and self-trust. Her approach is weight-inclusive and non-diet, rooted in Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size. She works with clients who are ready to move beyond shame, control, and chronic self-criticism toward a more grounded, respectful relationship with their bodies.

Emily is licensed in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and offers online therapy exclusively via secure telehealth. She works with adults and couples across both states and offers a limited number of daytime appointments for clients who want consistent, focused couples work.
