Professional statement

Jem’s therapeutic focus is on improving the quality of relationships in one's life. Relationships involve your experience with yourself and others and may include food, sexuality, your body, work, and money. By getting curious about real-time thoughts, sensations, and feelings, Jem then helps you recognize patterns and larger stories that you carry about yourself and relationships. This allows for more conscious choices, with the purpose building new or upon existing skills for the expression of a client’s true potential and more fulfilling life.

Jem approaches partners with an understanding that people vary in their need for intimacy and closeness and that these differences can create conflict. She aims to help partners interact with an increasingly well-developed understanding of each others inner workings, helping transform conflict into opportunities for deeper intimacy and connection with a holistic, trauma trained lens.

Jem is known for working in a collaborative, warm, humorous, yet direct way as she supports clients through the courageous process of seeking fulfilling relationships. Her experience in growing up in between cultures, working as a CPA in the fast-paced world of investing, teaching yoga, reiki, breathwork, and meditation and publishing academic research are also integrated into her work.

Message to clients

You don't have to have the right words or know exactly where to start. We will figure it out together. Therapy is a partnership between the client and the therapist. This collaborative relationship helps to foster positive changes and promotes growth, healing, and healthier interactions in all aspects of life. I aim to make a safe and welcoming space where each client has a voice. Working with several disciplines from my background with children, individuals, couples, and families, my goal is to find what works best with each client system and go from there.

Progress means applying insights and tools learned in therapy in real life and achieving the consistent, desired outcomes. I work hard to attune myself to you. I’m interested in exploring your memories, development, family, thoughts, emotions, dreams, and fantasies. I want to experience your psyche the way you experience it yourself and how that plays out in your environment and relationships. My goal is for you to not need me anymore and become self-reliant in your journey.

You deserve to get the help you need and to invest in yourself and your relationships. The therapy relationship is such an important part of the work; it's important to find the right fit. If you're curious, please reach out. We'll schedule a free consult to determine whether we're a good fit, and if not, I'll point you in the right direction.
