Professional statement

Dr. Katie Lenger is a licensed psychologist and founder of the Relationship Health Collective, where she helps individuals and couples strengthen their relationships through evidence-based therapy. She works with clients navigating a range of concerns, such as recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, intimacy struggles, communication breakdowns, and major life transitions. Some begin therapy in moments of crisis; others come to nurture a thriving relationship, prevent future challenges, or intentionally grow together. Whatever the starting point, Dr. Lenger tailors the therapy process to the goals and values of each client or couple.

Her approach is active, collaborative, and grounded in science. Drawing from Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT), Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy (CBCT), and other leading methods, Dr. Lenger supports clients in building insight, shifting unhelpful patterns, and creating meaningful, lasting change. She works with people from all backgrounds and is committed to creating a welcoming, affirming space for every couple or individual she sees—including LGBTQIA2S+ clients and those in non-traditional relationships.

Dr. Lenger brings a unique blend of clinical and research expertise to her work. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Tennessee, and completed advanced training in Adult Psychopathology and Trauma Recovery at Brown University. She also completed a research fellowship in Complementary and Integrative Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her academic work includes over 30 peer-reviewed publications, and she continues to draw from this research foundation to ensure clients receive care that is both practical and evidence-based.

Dr. Lenger is licensed in North Carolina and Rhode Island and is authorized through PSYPACT to provide teletherapy in over 40 states. She offers remote sessions to clients across the U.S. and welcomes individuals and couples to reach out with questions or to explore whether working together would be a good fit.

Message to clients

If you're considering therapy, you're welcome to reach out. Whether you're coming in on your own or with a partner, we can talk about what you're looking for and see if it feels like a good fit. You don’t have to be in crisis. Many people start therapy to feel more connected, communicate more effectively, or prevent future issues from becoming bigger problems.

My approach is structured, collaborative, and grounded in research. I draw from evidence-based models like Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) and Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy (CBCT), which focus on helping partners understand each other more deeply, shift unhelpful patterns, and build lasting emotional connection. In the early sessions, we’ll clarify your goals and get a clear picture of what’s happening so we can tailor our work to what matters most to you.

I offer remote therapy to clients in over 40 states and typically have weekday daytime availability. I know therapy is a significant investment of time and resources. I’m committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care and I want to make the reimbursement process as straightforward as possible for clients using out-of-network benefits. You can click “See cost estimates” above to check your potential out-of-network reimbursement before getting started, and Zencare also makes it easy to submit claims through Reimbursify.
