Most couples don't come to therapy because they've stopped loving each other — they come because the patterns between them have made emotional safety feel out of reach. The Relationship Health Collective was founded to help couples and individuals understand those patterns clearly, and change them.
Dr. Katie Lenger is a licensed clinical psychologist, researcher, and founder of the Relationship Health Collective. She specializes in couples therapy and relationship health, working with partners navigating recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, communication breakdowns, intimacy struggles, and major life transitions. Some couples come in crisis; others come proactively — to strengthen a good relationship or get ahead of problems before they become entrenched. Either is a good reason to start.
Dr. Lenger's approach is active, collaborative, and grounded in the strongest available evidence. She draws primarily from Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) and Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy (CBCT) — two of the most rigorously studied approaches in couples therapy — alongside mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies that support lasting change. Sessions are structured but tailored, with an early focus on clarifying goals and understanding the specific patterns at play in your relationship.
Her clinical work is informed by an unusually deep research foundation: over 30 peer-reviewed publications focused on relationship health, a Consulting Editor role at the Journal of Family Psychology, and an academic appointment at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Tennessee and advanced training in Adult Psychopathology and Trauma Recovery at Brown University.
Dr. Lenger is licensed in California, North Carolina, Rhode Island and authorized through PSYPACT to provide teletherapy in 39 other states. Relationship Health Collective is an affirming practice that welcomes all couples and individuals, including LGBTQIA2S+ clients and those in non-traditional relationship structures.
