Professional statement

Dr. Miriam Khiari is a bilingual clinical psychologist in Providence, Rhode Island. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and provides individual and couples therapy for adults, both in-person and virtually.

Her clinical experience includes providing therapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups across a range of settings, as well as conducting psychological evaluations and neurodevelopmental assessments for Autism and ADHD.

Dr. Khiari finds deep meaning in supporting adults as they explore identity transitions, navigate attachment and relationships, process trauma and grief, and make sense of family and cultural dynamics. She helps clients tune into their emotions, increase self-compassion, strengthen distress tolerance, and cultivate a stronger sense of self.

She is also passionate about helping parents of autistic children navigate the uncertainty of a new diagnosis, including making sense of the evaluation experience, processing emotions, and better understanding Autism and Neurodivergence. Dr. Khiari aims to help parents make sense of evaluation recommendations, prioritize next steps, and translate them into realistic plans for their child and family. She aims to promote greater family understanding and connection.

Grounded in an attachment- and emotionally focused framework, Dr. Khiari believes that emotional safety, trust, and attunement form the foundation for healing and deeper connection, both within and beyond therapy.

Message to clients

Do you feel stuck in patterns, whether it’s anxiety, people-pleasing, feeling misunderstood, or hiding emotions because expressing them wasn’t safe growing up? These patterns may leave you feeling frustrated, disconnected, insecure, overwhelmed in relationships, or in your role as a parent.

In therapy, we’ll slow down and explore what’s happening beneath the surface. Whether you're adjusting to a big change in your life, working through attachment wounds, navigating relationship challenges, or coping with the complexities of juggling many roles, we can explore your emotions, needs, and relational patterns more deeply. I tailor my approach to help you reflect, embrace your strengths, and let go of what holds you back.

My approach is warm, collaborative, experiential, neurodivergent- and LGBTQ-affirming, and trauma-informed, with a touch of humor (because growth doesn’t have to be serious all the time!). I aim to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported as you experiment with new ways of relating to yourself and others. Together, we’ll work toward greater self-understanding, compassion, and resilience as you build a more authentic and meaningful life.
