Professional statement

Dr. Miriam Khiari is a bilingual clinical psychologist in Providence, Rhode Island. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and provides individual and couples therapy for adults, both in-person and virtually.

Dr. Khiari finds deep meaning in supporting adults as they explore life transitions, navigate attachment and relationships, process relationship break-ups and grief, and make sense of family and cultural dynamics. She helps people better understand their emotions, build resilience, be kinder to themselves, and feel more confident.

She is also passionate about helping parents of autistic children navigate the uncertainty of a new diagnosis, including making sense of the evaluation experience, processing emotions, and better understanding Autism and Neurodivergence. Dr. Khiari aims to help parents make sense of evaluation recommendations, prioritize next steps, and translate them into realistic plans for their child and family. She aims to promote greater family understanding and connection.

Grounded in an attachment- and emotionally focused framework, Dr. Khiari believes that emotional safety, trust, and attunement form the foundation for healing and deeper connection, both within and beyond therapy.

Message to clients

Maybe you just got broken up with. Or maybe you’re in a relationship that leaves you constantly feeling anxious, confused, resentful, emotionally exhausted, or second-guessing yourself.

You might overthink texts, fear being “too much,” wonder if you'll ever feel “good enough," shut down during conflict, people-please to keep the peace, or feel trapped in the same painful relationship patterns no matter how hard you try to change them.

These patterns usually don’t come out of nowhere.

In therapy, we’ll explore the deeper emotions, experiences, and relationship dynamics underneath what you’re going through - not just how to cope, but why this hurts so much in the first place. Together, we’ll work on understanding yourself more clearly, expressing your needs more authentically, and breaking patterns that no longer serve you in relationships of any kind.

My approach is warm, collaborative, experiential, trauma-informed, neurodivergent- and LGBTQ-affirming, and grounded in helping you feel truly seen, understood, and challenged toward meaningful change. I’m also known to bring a touch of humor into the work - because growth doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time!
