Professional statement

For over a decade, Sarah has helped adults and couples navigate anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, and questions of meaning, identity, or spirituality. Many of Sarah's clients come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected, or weighed down by patterns that no longer serve them. Her approach is relational, depth-oriented, and trauma-informed, with a strong grounding in evidence-based care.

Sarah draws from modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Jungian psychology, and Hakomi. These approaches support clients in exploring unconscious patterns, building emotional awareness, and creating lasting change in how they relate to themselves and others.

Sarah earned her my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago and began her career in community mental health before working at the Palo Alto VA Medical Center, where she supported veterans facing trauma, addiction, and major life transitions. Sarah now works at the Wise Mind Institute, a group practice dedicated to integrative, evidence-based care.

Outside of her clinical training, Sarah's path has been shaped by Insight Meditation, dance, and outdoor leadership. Sarah is available for in-person appointments in Berkeley and Redwood City. She is also available online for all California and Massachusetts residents.

Message to clients

Our work together will help you move toward living from your values, rather than being driven by fear. We’ll build your capacity to meet life with more choice, courage, and wisdom. As you grow more attuned to your body’s signals and your internal landscape, you’ll begin to respond, not just react, to what life brings. This is not passive work. It’s an active process of exploring what’s been buried, making space for new experiences, and practicing new ways of relating to yourself and others.

For many people, these struggles have roots in early relationships and experiences, times when important needs for safety, connection, or understanding weren’t fully met. When these patterns begin in childhood and repeat over time, they can leave lasting imprints on how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we handle stress and emotions. This can show up as chronic self-doubt, emotional numbness, difficulties with intimacy, or a persistent sense of disconnection. Therapy offers a safe space to explore these patterns, whether individually or as a couple.

If you’re ready to start this journey, alone or with your partner, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation.
